This blog has been created as part of my ISAR competencies for LS 5013 at Texas Women's University, where I am beginning my first semester of graduate studies in Library Science.
I am interested in public libraries, and my topic area of interest is progressive librarians. I didn't even know such a thing existed until I read an article on the "Riot Librarrrian" zine in BUST magazine (their motto is "breaking the binding of patriarchy since 2001"). As a self-avowed progressive feminist with a MA in Women's History from Sarah Lawrence, I'm very interested in finding ways to promote social justice and activism through the public library system. I will be exploring this topic further throughout the semester.
